About Thomas
Thomas Bourke was born with cerebral palsy (CP), a brain abnormality that affects his global development. He requires assistance with his mobility and all activities of daily living. He further has difficulty speaking and processing information. At age 9, Thomas received a secondary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a condition that further affects his areas of cognitive, sensory and social function.
Despite a multitude of profound challenges, Thomas strives to participate in his life to its fullest capacity and has been blessed with many opportunities to do so. Opportunities that foster mobility, capacity, independence and inclusion—challenging yet rewarding learning that builds skills and confidence that enrich Thomas’ life in many ways.
Hope for Thomas was created in 2006 from an outpour of love and support to help Thomas achieve his most optimistic future function, independence and quality of life and continues to sustain these vital goals today.
